What do you bring when you go to a covered dish event? |
|
Preferably something easy and looks as if you made it yourself.
But other suggestions are welcome too.

1. A dish with a cover on it - and then I shrug and say "WHAAAT??" |
|
Actually, I usually go with a tri-color cold rotini noodle salad - olive oil base with spices (oregano, basil, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, chives when they are fresh from the garden) and some fresh chopped veggies (mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, no onions).

4. I also add celery to my pasta salads. And use shrimp instead of pepperoni. |
|
Though really, you can put in anything. The little grape tomatoes are good, also.

10. Shrimp would be good! |
|
I'll have to try that next time. I sometimes put the grape tomatoes in mine, if they aren't outrageously expensive and if they aren't mushy.

I use one pound box of pasta. One small package of sliced pepperoni, and then I quarter the slices Half of a small can of black olives OH! I FORGOT! I also put in one whole cucumber. I peel it, take out the seeds, then chop it.
Glad you asked 'cause the cucumber is important... LOL! DUH!

Despite the fact that I would rather not bake. I often make key lime cheesecake or creme de menthe brownies Au gratin or scalloped potatoes are a good dish to take. Szechuan greenbeans http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/SZECHUAN-GREEN-BEANS-1245925

14. Green bean casserole is usually a big hit believe it or not |
|
I use fresh green beans, julienned red & yellow peppers, halved brown mushrooms, and the canned french fried onions (I prefer the canned to making them myself). I blanch the green beans and saute the rest of the vegetables. I use the saute pan to make the sauce, and then everything goes into the oven topped with bread crumbs.
