2. Just go to adobe.com - there's a download button on the front page.

3. because adobe writes terrible software
It's not necessarily *your system that's the problem.
I deal with a lot of computers and issues with Adobe's pdf software are a regular feature.

4. Try Foxit reader instead of Adobe.
Once I tried it, I never looked back. All the functionality without the bloated buggyness that characterizes Adobe software.

5. Ditto on Foxit.
Leaner, meaner and works better.

6. I think you accidentally put an extra word at the end.
Leaner, meaner and works. :P

7. I quit using Foxit after the latest versions began requiring installation of some search bar
(MySearch or some such) in order for all of the features the program to work properly.

I now use PDF Xchange viewer. It is also free and has more features than Foxit, including a typewriter tool, which I find very useful.

9. All you have to do is uncheck the option.
Everything works just fine without the toolbars.

8. Doesn't that software have ads, unless you pay for it?
or am I thinking of another PDF program?

And I just reinstalled Windows and subsequently all of my various programs a couple months ago, so I've got one of the newest versions.

11. I use Foxit
but http://lifehacker.com/287281/open-pdfs-in-a-flash-with-sumatra">Sumatra is even slimmer and is open source.

Another indispensable freeware PDF utility is http://lifehacker.com/242311/download-of-the-day-dopdf-windows">doPDF that adds a virtual printer to you computer that lets you print any document to a PDF.

Of course, you can get the same functionality by purchasing Acrobat for $200 but who wants to do that?

13. I use CutePDF to print to PDF.
It acts as a printer driver, so when printing anything you can select it as the output.

14. same as doPDF
both are mentioned in the article I linked. I have an old version of Acrobat Pro which included the ability to print PDFs but since Adobe wanted $$$ for upgrades, I went the free-ware, open source route.
