He's up here helping out the power company restore power from the last storm. He asks me to put on Fox News, and I say...no. He said, I forgot I was in a blue state. I told him that I will not get into politics with him, but I stood my ground. He kept going on about how FN was the only non-biased station...blah blah blah...asked me to give him examples of how FN was biased. I again told him I wasn't going to talk politics. Check was 42.09, he left 42.10 on the bar. I was pissed at first, but afterwards I was proud of myself for standing my ground.

1. Good for you!!!
My standard line when FOX is on at a bar is to ask them to change it to a "News Channel" - they usually put on CNN or something.

Hopefully, this snow will let up soon and we can get out to the playground with the kids. :hi:

the new playground looks great, it's just buried at the moment, plus there is no fence yet. :hi:

If my GM finds out I wouldn't put the tv on fox for a customer, I'm going to get reamed. I told my manager on duty about it last night (she's a dem)she said she would have done the same thing.

edited cause I can't spell thismorning...another night of 3 hours sleep. It's been like this for weeks now. x(

12. I agree w/ the snow!
x( We are supposed to get more this weekend. I don't know where our plow guy is going to put any more snow, we don't have any more room in our driveway! Did you lose electricity? We lost it on Monday. Our friends in Camden just got theirs back yesterday and had to stay at a hotel by Glen Cove since Monday. Our friends in Phippsburg still don't have electricity!

My kids are begging to go to the playground. They are sick to death of the YMCA play gym.

Hopefully you won't get in trouble. At least your manager on duty last night was aware of what was going on.

Mr.f4m3s and I are looking for something to do on St.Patty's day. Do you know a good place to go around here? We finally found a good baby sitter. :)

14. Nope, never lost the power
as for SPD, I'd check the Soup to see if they have any events listed. We don't do anything other than your basic green beer....yay....but some of the local bars might have something going on, I know the Black Bull usually does. We went to The Boat House in Rockland last week, more upscale, expensive, not really a comfortable enviornment for drinking, unless you're looking for something a little more low-key. I bet Cappy's has something going on and maybe Whales Tooth.

I'll check the Soup. We went to Cody's last week. We had not been there and it is almost right across the street. I haven't been to the Boat house. We haven't really been anywhere yet. It's not easy to go out with the three little boys. Now that we have a sitter we can check out a few places.

I went once and decided to never go back. Between the service and the food...it was terrible. I shouldn't say never, I usually will give a restaurant a second chance if it's fugged up the first time. But, there was hair in my food, waitress was terrible...

28. I work nights
I take care of my 2 y.o. daughter during the day. My hubbie works days and takes care of her at night. I get home from work around 12 a.m. I manage to fall asleep by 2, my daughter wakes up between 2-3, and I end up taking her back to our bed. I sleep very lightly. She's up around 6/6:30 am. I try to take a nap during the day if I can, but stuff has to get done. A couple of times a week I get to sleep a little later, but it doesn't happen every week.

My daughter just had her first sleep-over at her Auntie's house, and I expect we'll be doing that a little more often now that we know she can handle it, and we can get a break once and a while.

I know it's not healthy, but I can't afford day care. I have plenty of family to help, but we all run on different schedules and I do take the help when it's available.

a most wanted type poster and hang it in the kitchen....there's two I'd love to stick on it. I had one party the other night, gave them great service as usual, 80 check, left me 4. A couple of the girls looked over at the group and said that they always tip like that. WTF? Four bucks for 2 hours of my time. :grr:

21. I try not to talk politics at all with my customers
it never turns out well. I won't talk religion with them either. Makes doing business with people that much nicer. It's hard sometimes though, during the election especially. One of my regulars was going on about Obama being a muslim. Luckily, before I nearly blew up at the guy, his friends started calling him an ill-informed moron...along with some stuff that wasn't so nice.

36. I wouldn't have put it on Fox, in your case, either.
However, to be honest, if I asked a bartender to put something on a TV that nobody else was watching or nobody else cared what was on (I'm assuming that was the case here), I wouldn't tip, either. At a sports bar a while back I asked the bartender to put the Caps on TV because they were playing the Habs, and he refused just because he didn't like hockey.

At a fucking SPORTS BAR.

I didn't even leave that guy the penny tip you got; I went out of my way to give him exact change with as many pennies as I could stuff into the pile. Fuck him. Still today, I tip all of his co-workers and never tip him.

In summary, in your case I too would have refused to put Fox on, but I also wouldn't have expected the tip or been pissed when seeing it wasn't there. Everyone who goes into a bar, Dem or Repug, expects their every wish fulfilled - and those who don't get their way often don't tip. He's not an asshole because he didn't leave a tip, he's an asshole because he likes Fox News and actually thinks it's biased.

49. He was looking for an excuse not to tip
Probably saving his cash per diem for the negligee club later on.

If you had switched it to Faux you would have had no tip AND a brain ache from that nasty talk TV trash.

I have seen the attitude from some of these import workers before: your neighbors getting power is tip enough in their eyes. Not all of them, but I expect he was pretty sure he wouldn't be seen around those parts again.

Also I guarantee you in his retelling to the guys he left a tip anyway just to see your jaw drop.

Good riddance to that putz. He is already being repaid karmically from the effing DANGEROUS work that storm-damaged line repair is.

Get the remote and delete the Fox channel in menu/manual channel setup/delete.

GOOD ON YOU FOR STANDING FIRM!!
