I just met Conan O'Brien
What a great guy. He was here at the station promoting the new Tonight Show starting in June. It was pretty exciting. I'll try to post pictures later. But needless to say, I really liked him!

1. Awesome....
....I spent many nights in college watching his monologue and laughing my head off. Ah, I miss the days when I could stay up until 1 am every night!

2. Awesome.
I'm really curious to see how The Tonight Show w/ Conan O'Brien will pan out. I hope he wont have to tone down his bizarre sense of humor at all for the show.

Although it kinda sucks that his signature characters like the Masturbating Bear will not be returning for the show.

4. yeah, I managed to miss the bear's last efforts that last week -

I kept thinking we would see the bear that last Friday night. I wonder if his east coast humor will translate well to LA, though.

8. What the fuck is "east coast humor"?
His humor, whether on his recent long-running show, or his days writing for SNL, does just well in L.A. thank you. He lived here when he wrote for 'The Simpsons', and they haven't been as good since he left. I don't recall there being anything 'east coast' about any of his efforts. Sounds like a meaningless bullshit term.

East coast elitist snobbery. Gotta love it.

13. His Simpsons episodes while few, are fuckin' brilliant.
I particularly like "Bart Gets Famous" and "Marge On The Lam". He even does commentary for those episodes on the DVDs.

15. no, I think there is a difference- maybe I tend to associate him more with
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 09:05 PM by tigereye
Letterman-type humor, which I think is very East Coast and doesn't seem to play as well in Hollywood, anyway- more quirky, more based on irony, more sarcastic, perhaps. Although there is no reason, I suppose to think of LA as less quirky. Could simply be the stereotypes associated with Hollywood and one too many shallow budding starlets...

It may be that I simply prefer Letterman to Leno (also an original East coaster...)

Maybe it is an idle distinction, no need to take offense...

10. Conan is SOOOOOOOO Tall
He was towering over the staff. All of our anchors are around 5'5" and he was a full foot taller. It looked funny
