Well I'm visiting BeachBaby and we hit a deer in her car |
|
We are all okay. Me BB and her two kids. Currently she is in the process of making a police report. Ugh. The jeep is damaged the radiator is leaking and so it's undeivable. We are waiting for a pickup. And the deer didn't die right away. Which upset me.what a way to start the weekend.Neither BB nor I have ever hit a deer before. :(

I hit a few years ago in my Jeep and got really lucky. I hit the thing at about 50mph, and all I did was crack my one headlight and the grill a little bit. The deer ran off, and I continued on my way.

i had an elk (like a deer but 10 feet tall) land in front of my car at the Grand Canyon when it was hit by the car in front of me, i almost hit it. i remember when it jumped in front of the other car in front of me and time did that frame by frame thing that people talk about. it was so tall it went over the roof and landed in front of my car i was skidding to stop in time.
it kept twitching  and i was all alone at night on a country road. the other guy drove off because he was drunk .

10. A cluster of them crossed the road in front of me the night before last. |
|
Luckily the snow just melted here so I was able to slolom around them without hitting them or driving off the road. My heart was pumping like mad for the next ten minutes or so.

I'm glad your okay. I had a buddy who ran into a deer (actually, it may have been a moose) and it went through his windshield. He broke some ribs and had internal bleeding.

19. Glad you are OK - Deer can be deadly if hit at the 'right' speed |
|
I hit a deer once, and at the time I was lucky I had a shovel in the car. I never have a shovel.
Anyway, hit the deer right on his neck, killing it painlessly and instantly. Then the next hour I cried. Killing things other than bugs always makes me cry (So far I've had to kill: a deer, a dog, a cat and a bird)

BB is having a drink. I don't blame her. It was a small deer so at least the airbags didn't go off

We have a couple of deer herds in our neighborhood. I usually see them on my early morning walks. There's a 3 mile road coming into the subdivision through woods. Speed limit is 45. In early morning and late evening, when they're usually on the move, I do about 30 with the brights on. Neighbors have had several deer strikes over the years.
Hope you guys can sort it out OK.
