Are you a "cyber condriac"? |
|
I heard this term on the radio this morning....Its people who go look up health symptoms on Web MD or sites like that and become convinced that the symptom is something serious..ie..headache is a brain tumor... I was thinking about this because I was just doing a symptom check to see why I had some weird symptoms of late...I think this term is hilarious by the way, and pretty true. At least for me from time to time..:)

1. Isn't that essentially what a hypocondriac is? Except they were pre-internets. |

2. Yeah but with all the information |
|
On teh tubes, I think its more common. I used to hear about young medical students thinking they had all sorts of rare diseases after they studied them in class..

3. My pathology professor |

had me convinced that I had MS. It took 2 MRI's to convince me otherwise!

6. I've heard that med school students frequently think they have every disease... |
|
as they study about it. Power of suggestion. Wouldn't surprise me.

7. I can see how someone could be. But no, I don't go looking |
|
up symptoms. A minor thing could seem major on web MD and vice versa.
