I just discovered something about DTV that may be helpful to others
That is, others using DTV converters with an antenna. Apparently, if power cords or transformers (like on a cordless phone, scanner and other small electrical stuff) are within a few inches of the cable from the antenna, it'll fuck up the input signal.

I was about to disconnect the cable between the wall and the converter to check for a bad cable or connection, and when I moved the power strip out of the way, the picture cleared up.
