Question for sellers on Ebay
I put a laptop on sell at Ebay and (in the listing) put in bold type
USA ONLY.

So (naturally) someone bid from Uzbekistan
..at the last minute.

I DON'T want to send the damn thing 7 thousand miles away.

What are my options and can/will the buyer give me a bad rating.?

1. You stated you would ship only in US

When you listed it, did you also choose the "Will ship only in US" ?

If so, I think you can go with second chance offer to the person (if in US) who bid on it before the person in Uzbekistan, especially since you could not block that person's bid due to the last minute bidding/end of auction time.

If anything, post your question on one of the eBay discussion boards. There are always pinks there who know what to do about situations like this, and you will probably get good advice. Be sure to ask about the rules on this situation if you post there :hi:

2. Send them a polite note and hold your ground.
Restate that it is for shipment to the US only. If they have a US address (friend or relative) who would receive it and forward the item to Uzbekistan, then agree to that. Otherwise make it clear that the bid is not valid because of the shipment terms and go with a second chance offer to the next bidder.

You DO NOT want to ship something like the laptop out of the country unless the shipper has the same kind of tracking and proof of delivery you get here. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for a "I never got it" claim with no way to verify it either way.

Also, make sure the payment is fully cleared before shipping! PayPal is great for that.
