Woman advises women to train boyfriends/husbands like animals
So, now I know why some old girlfriends used to toss me scooby snacks... (j/k)

Dating Advice: 6 Ways to Train Your Boyfriend

"You can't change a man" is one of the oldest cliches in the book. Well, we just discovered some news that challenges that notion, and it comes from an unlikely source: animal trainers.

"Males are card-carrying members of the animal kingdom, and they exhibit a lot of the same behaviors as many other mammals," says Amy Sutherland, author of "What Shamu Taught Me About Life, Love, and Marriage: Lessons for People from Animals and Their Trainers." "So they're likely to respond to some of the same training techniques."

Sutherland is speaking from experience. After spending a year at an exotic-animal training school, watching students in action, she successfully applied the techniques to her husband. In less than a few months, she was able to curb some of his undesirable traits.

We know you so want in on this. That's why we uncovered time-tested methods used by the most successful animal trainers on the planet. Then we got top psychologists to show you how to apply those techniques to your guy. Read on and you will soon be able to teach him some new tricks.

I wonder what the reaction would be if it was a guy advising men to train women like animals?

1. Marriage sounds fun
This is how I would describe the marriages of some of my friends from college.

5. People suck
If people can't respect their spouse, then they shouldn't be married. No hitting, no screaming, and no training and/or comparing their spouse to a pet! If you make a vow to love and honor someone, then don't be an asshole. It really is that simple.

I'm sorry to the men who read crap like this. I like to think most women disagree with it. :(

10. I'm sure it was targeted to women and I hope they rejected it.
Men have read it too though (obviously) and since I know I would be furious if a man wrote this about wives, I feel for the men who read this article.

that article will be like those articles from the 1940s and 50s about how to be a good wife?

8. I'd like her to try her stupid crap on me, just for a week.
Bet I could make her crack under the pressure.

Try to tell me what to do. Go ahead, I dare you.

I'll just stare at you all glassy-eyed until you go away.

I bet I could train her to fetch me a beer whenever I wanted one.

Just like "The Rules", more crap.

13. I wouldn't want a guy that I'd have to train
I have been in relationships where I encouraged them to develop new habits that were to the relationship's benefit and the benefit of humanity in general. And it goes both ways, I've been encouraged to pick up some better habits once in awhile myself :)

14. Somebody has issues
And is an opportunist preying on insecure women. How many times do we hear "men are dogs"? -- A saying I don't buy, and is not my experience.
Men are fully responsible for their own behavior and do not need "animal training" Or any training.

I tend to stay away from shitheads of any gender, anyway.

If you don't like your SO's traits, then deal with it, talk to them, or leave them if it's serious enough. This kind of thing (for BOTH genders) is vile.

20. It's a hideously-written heart-stoppingly sexist article, but..
..there's a few tiny useful nuggets. I wouldn't wish the pain of reading it on others, so here's the good part.

'Reward the good, ignore the bad' is sound advice for many situations. Nagging and complaining are negative reinforcement; you give the other party control and attention when you do that.

'Show them how it's done' is taking initiative instead of waiting around for the other party to make it happen.

'Form a cooperative relationship instead of a dominant-submissive one.' I'm down with that.

22. Ways to train your boyfriend...hmmmm, I could turn this innocuous thread
into a flame war...maybe boyfriends don't want to be trained? Maybe boyfriends don't need to be trained? Hey...here's an idea! Maybe girlfriends should just come out, tell this prospective boyfriend exactly what in their life they expect from them...and don't leave anything out, girlfriends! and everything will be crystal clear........yes? Apparently, that is not the situation here....

Let's just be friends.....get it?

23. Leading people is just like leading dogs
You need 3 things to get a dog to do something:

- You need to establish yourself as confident in your own abilities
- You need to ask the dog to do something they understand, within their own system of logic ("doggie logic")
- You need to give the dog a reason to do what you are asking. Rewards are better than punishment - punishment just teaches them to fear you.

Being the smarter mammal, I must say no dog has ever accepted company stock options as a reward.

24. What the HELL?
I've SEEN this movie...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZA1-FRf_b8&feature=related

"The story centers around a woman who marries the love of her life but is concerned about keeping him interested. Her mother, a French woman, instructs her on the art of "keeping your man happy" by giving her a book on dog training. All this works very well until he finds out that he's being trained!
The main stars of the film are Sandra Dee, Bobby Darin, and Stephanie Powers. I definitely would recommend this film and That Funny Feeling - both with Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee.
