just want to acknowledge the irony.
I don't hunt, but it doesn't really bother me that others do. Legal hunting pays for a lot of conservation and most hunters that I know actually want the meat. I don't care for the idiots that claim they are hunting, but are really tearing around on ATVs all drunk, leaving gates open and throwing trash around. Of course they aren't hunters.
As for trophy hunters - eh see the post below - same thing. I worry about obsessive collectors that venture into illegal collections of rare and endangered animals, but, bottom line is modern hunting is not harming most species in any way.

African countries change a great deal for each and every single animal permit, plus taxes, fees and so on. Each hunt provides money and valuable protein to the local people. Excepting the meat of predator animals such as big cats, nothing is wasted. Hunting brings in hard currencies for some countries that have few resources. That's why hunting still happens.
