The amazing resilience of seeds. |

So a few weeks ago I scattered a packet of pansy seeds into a pot with soil and compost. Finally in the last few days, I notice two tiny little plants struggling toward the light. The leaf-shape identifies them as pansies.
Only two, out of a whole packet of seeds.
That's pretty damn good, though, considering the packet was dated ... 1987.

been trying for months, 5 seeds at a time - had just about given up - looked and there it was! these are a little older: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldest_viable_seed

About half of my seed-starts this year are at two or three years old - very good luck.
