Favorite performances at the MJ memorial service?
Edited on Tue Jul-07-09 03:04 PM by bbernardini
I thought Stevie Wonder was absolutely brilliant. Lionel Richie was also quite good. As always, I thought Mariah Carey was, as the kids might say, meh. The finale was a bit lackluster as well. I really thought "Man In The Mirror" should have been the big finish. Jennifer Hudson was pretty good, although the choreography during her number was straight out of high school show choir.

On edit: Jermaine Jackson's performance was also very good. I thought it was a little weird when the audience started applauding when he almost lost it at the end, though. Of course, it sounded like there were a lot of "I LOVE THE SOUND OF MY OWN VOICE" people in attendance.

1. "Human Nature" by Dave Mason.
HN was my favorite of the early '80s Jackson, and I hadn't heard the guitar version. It was a real treat for me.

I LOVE "I'll Be There," my favorite of the Jackson 5. Carey and Lorenz were great.

The whole show was very well done, and a fitting tribute to MJ's enormous talent.

I just hope that his troubled soul finds peace, and that anyone that he may have hurt out of his own troubles will find peace as well.

2. I think you mean John Mayer.
Dave Mason would have been cool, though.

3. Ooh! Thanks for the correction.
I wasn't sure that my memory was correct when I wrote it. Old age.

Yes, Dave M. would have been cool.
