The Cure's Robert Smith and singer Morrisey unite for MopeAid, a benefit for the world's sullen

LONDON - Former Smiths frontman Morrisey and The Cure's Robert Smith have united to organize MopeAid, a benefit concert which will be held at Wembley Arena on August 29th. Billed as the first stadium concert to provide aid to the sullen and withdrawn artistic types of the world, Morrisey told Rolling Stone that "If I've felt ennui, and I know it is felt by others, and I do nothing to help them, how can I look in the mirror each fortnight?"

Smith, currently on tour with The Cure, told reporters that the other acts on the bill will be Howard Jones ("Things Can Only Get Better"), Gary Numan ("Cars"), and Flock Of Seagulls ("I Ran"). Additional surprise acts and a top-secret closing jam are among the rumors spreading like wildfire throughout Europe.

Tickets for the event go on sale July 18th.
