1. Destroy things with fire and blunt force. |

Demolition jobs are great. Dropping ton heavy pipe racks with an acetylene torch and removing fixtures with a sledgehammer is quite enjoyable.

I worked for a large Federal agency, and we had an employee chorus of which I was a member.
We not only sang for events within our own office, but we also got to sing for events in other agencies in the Chicago area.
And we got to rehearse on company time.
(Closest I ever came to being a professional singer.)

10. I got to smash a server with a baseball bat... |
|
When I was working at the computer lab in college we had a server which went completely dead during the week before finals. Not kind of dead, the motherboard caught fire. Everybody's term papers, theses, dissertations, etc. were backed up to this main data storage unit (this server) so we needed to get the hard drives out. We're talking one of those really old units, probably 20-30 years old. Made of steel and designed to survive Reaganism and nuclear obliteration. The case wouldn't open, the heat had warped it and we broke the aviation snips trying to cut the door panel off. So we figured out where inside the hard drives were, they were the only things we were even trying to salvage, found the point farthest from them and went to it with crowbars and an aluminum bat until we bent the case to the point that we could get inside to get the drives out to try them in another server in case there was anything salvagable.
Who says technology always prevails over primativity?
(Somewhere, systems hardware engineers are crying or laughing at this story.)

13. Read Harry Potter book 5 |
|
My boss dropped me off to do a bird survey, and I had about 6 hours after the survey was over, so I read the (then) new book sitting under a MONSTER tree in Oregon.
The wierdest thing happened that day: I was sitting under this GIANT tree (we're talking 10 foot DBH) and I got to the part where Harry dreams he's the snake. I put the book down for a sec to absorb the scene, and something prompted me to look over my shoulder. There was a TINY little snake right over my shoulder, hanging off the bark of the tree. :o
Driving a tractor for a different project was pretty fun too. :D

one reminds me of certain experiences when I used to work security at a casino and drove the shuttle. For the most part I turned them down politely. All those comp'ed drinks tended to lower inhibitions.

I gotta say having strange ( and I DO mean strange) women run up on stage and kiss me ( and one stuffed money and a phone number down my pants in the middle of a sax solo). Sadly, now that I'm well into my 50's its been years since anything like that has happened. I don't get it. Does this mean I'm not young and cute anymore?
