So, last night I got to interview Judas Priest by proxy--I'm feeling pretty cool right now. |
|
A friend of mine (who is a bassist, sound guy and recordng engineer--a general local muysic go to guy) does some stage production work at a local musical fest and this year he is the stage manager for the stage where Judas Priest will be playing. As such he is pretty familiar with the mangement and promotion that goes on with this festival--which includes the pre-show radio interivews, done bya local radio station.
I think the Monndance jam has (until recently) largely been focused on COuntry music so the DJ who will be performing the interview has no real familiarity with the band, so she called my buddy and hoped he could help her out. He hasn't played any heavy metal since about 1986, so he didn't know too much about them either.
That's where I come in! I got the call last night and basically got to script the questions which will be asked in the interview. I am pretty reefed, I supplied questions past the the basic same old same old you always hear on these things. My questions range from a sew specifics about the current set list, to their radical departure from their traditional set list in the last two years (it was pretty formulaic before, and is much more opened up to their catalog now). Plus some stuff about the genesis of the band and the name (it was originally "Freight") as well as questions about guitarist KK Downing's new business venture--a golf course on his Midland estate.
Well, no matter what else happens--this DJ will certainly appear to have done her homework for the interview! :)

I could've had her ask: "so, with thirty years to think about it, do you have to be old to be wise?" ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzTXeZb3-ag
