1. We knew you could do it...pull yourself up by your own
damn bootstraps and cut that grass and buy a sammitch.

Tough love!

8. It takes me an hour to cut my grass.
I have a big yard.

Of course it hasn't been raining so the grass isn't growing.

It did rain yesterday morning but not enough.

11. Took me 4 hours, start to finish today...
Usually takes me 2 to 2.5 hours, but it was slightly wet, and I kept stalling the mower.

It has been pouring here...

14. You need to raise the wheels a little.
Never cut wet grass.

16. That's why it took 4 hours today...
I raised the wheels while it was a little too wet....then lowered the wheels after it dried a bit and mowed it in the other direction.

17. Sounds like you were cutting hay.
I won't have that problem this summer.

I am keeping my grass tall so the sun won't hurt it.

My grass is still green.

18. I am happy to hear that you still have green grass with...
your relative lack of rain.

Where I live in NY, it has been a beautiful year for the lawns, unlike some hot summers, where every bit of grass goes dormant.

20. Good for you!
I remember when I was a kid, just about every house had a barrel to catch huge amounts of rain water for all kinds of uses. I never see those things around anymore...

23. On the farm we always saved water.
I can water most the yard with the washing machine water, my neighbors yards are not so green.

15. No chance of that...
Unlike my neighbors, I have never fertilized my lawn, mainly because of my dogs.

When the weeds get too horrible, I pull the big ones.

My lawn does not look "perfect" like you might see in a lawn and garden magazine, but people always compliment me on it.

Come to think of it...I've never watered my lawn either.
