Did you ever own a cat that you loved but everyone else laughed at?
leaving aside the question of whether it is possible to "own" a cat.

3. I adopted a 'special needs' kitty about 20 yrs ago... she was a sight
A friend in school at NC State came home to Charlotte and called me. He had brought home a cat that had been jettisoned by his neighbors as they were leaving for the summer; missing a back leg and her right eye, with a patchy coat from a terrible flea infestation. Her name, he told me, had been the Greek word for "cripple".

I called her Venus... after all, the Venus de Milo is one of the world's great treasures, and she's missing a few parts, too.

Venus was faster and more agile than my other two cats (Shottie and Sunny), and watching her chase a toy was akin to watching a feline wheelbarrow race! I grew to love her dearly over just a few days.

Unfortunately, Shottie had designs on being an 'only cat', and a few weeks later, she knocked the screen out of the kitchen window, then sat there as Venus and Sunny jumped out and took off, never to be seen again (despite exhaustive searches by me and the neighbors). I've often wondered if they found new homes.

5. The closest thing I have to a kitty at present is missing part of her right ear
a feral calico who lives a couple of blocks back from work. I and some of the women who linger near the homeless shelter across the street have sort of adopted her (always cat food scattered around, etc.)

I was right in the middle of my morning cat fix when it started to sprinkle... :(

6. I have a cat nobody in my family will allow into their homes. He is too much
of a brute for their taste. He's a creampuff for me usually.

This was Charles (1975-1996). He wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he had a sweet, if somewhat needy personality. He ate house plants and couldn't be left along with a loaf of bread (he'd tear through the bag and gnaw on the crust); and he popped and ate balloons (and shat colorful rubber bits as a result). My friends thought he was kind of dumb, but I loved him.
