The sanest instructions for living -- which we should all get, if possible, before we go out into the world to make our way -- would cover that nicely: Deal with having needs. Don't be a jerk. Don't assume there's nothing left to learn.

But as we can tell by watching/reading/listening to the news every day, people either aren't getting that advice or don't heed it.
