What's your best WOW moment? |
|
Mine happened when I stepped into the labor room to see how my friend was doing. One of the nurses grabbed me and told me to "grab her leg like this and push" -- uuuhhhhhhhhhh, so I did. Between contractions, my friend allowed as how hubby was on his way and wouldn't get there in time, pointed at his camera and said "Would you mind?" I'm still amazed that you can take pictures with your eyes closed and have them turn out okay.
Afterward, I went out to the waiting room and asked the six-year-old brother if he'd like to come meet the baby. He was awestruck and precious as he sat in a chair and grandma placed the baby in his lap and showed him how to hold his new brother. He gave the baby a kiss on the forehead, then looked up and exclaimed, "He smells like fish!" And THAT had us all in tears. Again.
So what's your story?

for 4 hours! Ended up with a c-section. But that is my wow moment. My husband said my legs weighed a ton when he was the one grabbing them and pushing them back as far as they would go. Epidurals = dead weight. As much as I was not liking it a the time, I look back in amazement. I loved every minute of it.

3. Going to Game 3 of the 2007 World Series in Denver. |
|
Not quite as wonderful as the birth of a new life (especially since the Rockies lost), but by going to that game I was accomplishing one of my BIG things on my life list. In my senior year of high school, I took a class called "Living On Your Own" (or LOYO) that was meant to prepare us for, naturally, living on our own after high school. There was a lot of stuff about thinking about the future in that class, and one of the things we did was write down "life lists" of things we wanted to do before we died.
I think that "See a Rockies World Series game in Denver" was somewhere around 6 or 7 on my list. When I was there, watching the flashbulbs go off for that first pitch and listening to the roar of the crowd, it hit me hard - I had actually accomplished something on my life list.
Like I said, not as miraculous as birth or anything, but so far that was the one moment in my life where I truly said "Wow!" and it meant it with every fiber of my being.
