Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

Today is the day of death of my grandfather, the father of my father. He died in 1988 at the age of 69. I have fond memories of him. He was a good man.
And in 10 days, it is the day of death of my father. He died in 2001 at the age of 55. Way way too young. My mom and my grandma (mom's mom) will be visiting me on that weekend. Life goes on. He is and always will be in my heart.
Please, no need for condolences, I am not sad or anything.

Picture of the Day (my late dad with my late cat in 1990 - the long beard of my dad is a leftover of the GDR, his beard got shorter and shorter over the years after that)

She loved to sit on maps or crawl underneath maps. Guess she liked the noise it made. I can't really say what continent she was sitting on, I'd say somewhere in Europe (it is a fair guess)

OH that is hot. Our temps dropped quite a bit the last few days. Temps are only in the 60s these days. But there is a chance that we get in the 70s end of the week.

It has been hot on the inside too. The air conditioner broke down so got one of those portable ones and it helps but only slightly cools the living room. As far as the rest of the home you're sorry out of luck.

I always loved cats and since the last one ran away due to the dogs. and because we do have dogs we don't get anymore cats.

I would love to have a cat again too. Sometimes the pain of yearning is quite big. My baby in my sig line lives with the DUer AirmensMom. But I am still gone over the weekends quite often and I don't have the time at the moment. And it would be unfair to the cat(s). But sooner or later I will become a slave again :)

41. Mornin' Miss H
I need some opinions about where to take a vacation. I've been to every state in this country except for Alaska and Hawaii. I have enough vacation time this year to see both places for a week.

I'm also thinking about just taking the time off at home and relaxing and maybe doing some writing.

I could also go to Colorado and spend some time with a friend there.

Or other? What do you think?

Which States did you barely visit. I mean, are there places in certain States you haven't seen yet?
If you want to relax and do some writing you could find yourself a quiet cabin at one of the oceans or at a lake or in the mountains. There you could write in peace and also go for hikes.

I envy you. You've seen so much of the U.S. There are still some States I wanna see.

47. I'm fairly well traveled in all of the contiguous 48
States that I'd like to get a closer look at besides the ones I haven't been to are, believe it or not, Nevada and Maine. I used to like to gamble, but I don't anymore, and that's not the reason I'd like to investigate Nevada more. I remember going out there when I first started driving and seeing billboards in northern Nevada advertising 1 acre tracts of land for $300. I should have bought one back then. I'd like to go back and see if there are still good deals on land. Nevada is a barren and harsh place. It reminds me of the landscape of the moon. I think it could easily pass for Mars in some places. Yet it's that quality that draws me to it strangely enough. I think one reason why is that it helps me clear my head. My mind is always working and scheming and planning and worrying. When I get out to Nevada and I can see for 50 miles and all that's there is desert....it has a cleansing affect on my mind. I'd like to have a little trailer out there that I could go to when I need a break from all of the greenery and liveliness of Ohio.

I've seen Maine from I-95 and have been as far north as Bangor. I would like to get into the interior of the state- just to see what it's like and not to buy property :). I love that area of the country for it's natural beauty. Far north New York state, Vermont, and New Hampshire are very nice. That could be the place to rent a vacation cabin and bring my laptop along.

I guess the percentage of men wearing a beard in the GDR was the same like in Western Germany. More of a "fashion" thing than anything else I guess. Just that my dad decided to not really groom it ...

55. Good Morning from Kiev.

Don't get around to the lounge too often, but I'm here now, so a good morning to you too.

Of course, assuming you're still here in Europe, it's afternoon for the both of us.

61. Good morning Matt
:hi:

Please say hello to Kiev from me. How is the weather?

Yes, I still live in Germany (remember, I am German after all).

68. This is our "hot year".
I haven't been here all that many years yet (4), but it seems that years that end in even numbers have cool summers, and odd numbers have hot summers. I remember last year saying that if we didn't have real summer weather by August 1st, we'd have to take a vacation somewhere hot.

We've already had more 30+ days (degrees centigrade) this summer than last.

when I was there it was hot - that fits with your numbers. :)

And we went to the Crimea, the Black Sea was very nice.

67. Doing well
we lost again--no surprise. :P Only the 2nd game. Maybe if we can add a good male/female attacking midfielder/forward, we may win some games. We have a super goalkeeper and defender/midfielder already.
