Poll question: If you had the money to take a vacation ANYWHERE in the world...
...what part of the world would it be in? (Let's assume it's actually ON Earth.)

7. Mostly I want to go to Great Britain, especially Wales
But if money were no object, I'd take a cruise around the world with stop offs along the way. My niece took a "Semester at Sea" while she was in college. The ship sailed from Miami to South America where they got to take a boat up the Amazon. Then they sailed to South Africa where the students worked on Habitat for Humanity housing, around the Cape, up to India for another Habitat project. Then they sailed to Japan. At that point my niece had to leave the ship - her father was diagnosed with cancer and was not given a good prognosis - but the ship went across the Pacific, stopping at some of the islands, to Hawaii, through the Panama Canal and back to Miami.

Flying has gotten to be such a nightmare, I think a round the world cruise would be the best way to see the world!

17. 1) U.K. and Ireland
2) India
3) Egypt

However, I have a sneaking suspicion that I'd plant myself firmly in the U.K. and/or Ireland and refuse to leave or quite some time...

21. I want to wander all over the UK and Ireland. I think I still have distant cousins in
Wales and Co. Antrim. Would have to do some major work tracking down any extremely distant Scottish one as I think it's been 300 or so yrs since we left there.

20. This is a silly poll, IMHO
It only lists continents. What about historical sites? I don't see one single site associated with Anne Boleyn or Mary, Queen of Scots on your poll. It lacks specificity.

22. There are only 10 slots, and of course whichever historical sites got listed someone
would be upset that some other site was not.

I think the more problematic issue with our polls is that you only get to vote for one thing, whereas with an approval poll you can pick everything you like.

24. Where do we fit in?
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 01:17 PM by KamaAina
Most travel sites have us under North America, being the 50th State and all, but geographically we are part of Oceania.

edit: and of course all of you would want to come here, right? Right??

In Finland - and maybe Norway. We're hoping to see the Northern Lights. Last summer we were there for the summer solstice.

32. I've been to the Arctic circle in Greenland
I'm not sure if you'll see the Northern lights from Northern Europe all that well, although the only time I've been there was in the middle of summer when naturally you won't see them at all. Central Canada and North Dakota are the best places I've seen them from. The magnetic north pole is actually a ways south of the physical north pole and located in Canada.
