The last time I had it was probably 1981 or so and it sucked by then. When I was a kid, I never remember it being gritty. Even by 81 it was mostly gristle with some pink shit thrown in to make it look like meat - and it was greasy as hell. That was 8 years before I even THOUGHT about becoming a vegetarian.

Straight from the Lite Bologna ingredients list:
