Tell me how much Comcast sucks because |
|
I am filing a complaint with Consumer Affairs, the Attorney General's Office and BBB due to their LIES, not answering their phone, not returning my phone calls when I leave a message regarding discrepencies in my bill, raising my monthly bill $20 before my first month's service is completed and sending me a 2 year contract that I never agreed to with a $250 cancellation fee if I don't sign.
Needless to say, I am on a crusade to destroy them. I've done this before with Verizon and got great results.

10. i really haven't had any problems with them, but there are some things that have bothered me |
|
like them not telling me it was going to be $50 to transfer my internet when i moved last year. they can turn off my service remotely when i don't pay my bill and then turn it back on remotely when i do, but they can't start my service in a place where the previous tenants had comcast internet?
my service went down a couple of months ago and, after i did all the troubleshooting, i had a rep tell me that they'd received multiple complaints in my neighborhood, but it would be two days before they could send a tech out and that i might wind up getting charged because it might not be their fault we couldn't get service. seriously? you've received multiple calls and you're trying to tell me it might not be your fault?

|
They are installing service in buildings that cannot handle the service and they know it. Yet they install it anyhow and then won't answer service calls. They are taking advantage of low income seniors and they should pay for that.

21. Oh yeah, that one bugs me |
|
When I downgraded my service, they could turn off my digital channels remotely, just as they could turn them on remotely when I first tried the digital channels, but somehow it's too complicated to give me a la carte cable, when they have it in other countries?
Gimme a break.
I miss a couple of channels (The Weather Channel is handy in the Midwest, where the weather can change completely in 15 minutes, and I loved Turner Classic Movies), but the suckage on all the formerly good channels had increased so much that I realized I could buy a lot of DVDs and get a generous Netflix plan for the same price.

15. We had a serious problem with our high speed internet service, |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-09-09 07:54 PM by MineralMan
involving several service calls. Before each of those calls, I explained that the problem was with the drop...the line from the pole to the house. Each time, the tech replaced some more of the cabling inside the house. Each time, the problem, which was intermittent dropouts, recurred.
And, listen to this: Each time, when I called to report another outage, the moron on the other end of the line tried to sell me their VOIP service.
"OK, can I ask you a question, Ms. Customer Service person? Doesn't the VOIP stuff use the same data connection as the FUCKING HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE I'M TELLING YOU IS BROKEN?"
Finally, after 5 useless service calls, I got a tech to replace the drop, which I knew to be the problem from the beginning. It all works fine now.

24. They suck because every time I call about a technical problem with my digital box... |
|
they tell me to unplug it and wait for it to reboot. This has happened--and I'm not kidding--about two dozen times, and to date it has fixed the problem not once.
I also hate that their voice-menu system sucks. You have to listen through a string of irrelevant automated messages about sports packages or whatever, and while they're running, the system doesn't accept input, so you can't press zero to jump past them.
And there's no reason they can't offer a la carte channel selection, except because it would make it difficult to fuck their customers. To get the two channels that my kids watch in the higher-digit range, we have to buy an upgrade package including something like 30 classic sports channels, not one of which I have ever had the desire to watch, but there's allegedly no other way to get the two channels.
FIOS isn't available locally, and until Direct TV offers on-demand programming equivalent to Comcast's, then Comcast is the only game in town, sadly.

25. We got rid of Comcast when they moved MSNBC. |
|
I figured it was a conservative plot to keep liberals off the air, so we got DirecTV instead. It felt sooooo good to give Comcast the boot. One time they put ancient children's programming on instead of C-span! After tons of complaints and LTEs, they reversed their decision. They also discontinued C-span2 in our area. They suck majorly.
I heard on the local news that the City of Pittsburgh is switching over to FIOS. Sorry, I didn't get the details, but I think it was because of all the complaints.
Good luck with your crusade against them. :hi:

Press *# at each prompt, ignoring messages. ( that is star pound keys)
and/or 1-800-945-2288...24 hour number, again with the star pound at the prompts.
Can't guarentee anything, worth a try.
3rd thing: Comcast is why we have DISH. Actually, Mr. D. is why we have DISH, I would not miss tv at all. But we do pay a reduced rate on the 250 channels, since I told them we were going TO Comcast.
Have you thought of a class action lawsuit???

28. They have their good and bad points |
|
The good is that I generally get a better deal from them than anyone else is offering, and in this area their internet whups the pants off anything even remotely comparable price-wise. And that If you sign up new, you can get some cash back/free stuff, as long as you haven't had service in 6 or 12 months.
The down side is they seem to have a hell of a time living up to the pricing commitments that they make through third party vendors, and they have a magic way of "misplacing" or "forgetting" to enter changes that you have asked for that might reduce your bill. The tune usually changes quite rapidly when I walk into the local office with my cable box in hand and try to return it.

Can't even go into the details of my Comcast saga because it will raise my blood pressure to dangerous levels. But just know that I hate them. I have very little reception but I'd rather have no tv at all than ever go back to them.
Good luck. I would love to see them go down in flames.

|
Comcast, Time Warner, Cablevision, you name them, there's always some unhappy camper.
Yes, often the cable companies do screw up. In your case, your situation has legs.
Put things in writing. State why their bill is wrong. As for the contract, do they have anything to prove you agreed to it?
Good luck with you. If it were Time Warner Cable, I have a few contacts there but I can't help with Comcast.

34. They're introducing a new DNS redirector service ... |
|
Well, they call it a service anyway. It's not exactly an AG or BBB offense, but it's fairly crappy, something Verizon tried at one time too.
FWIW, of all your issues, when you file your complaints, if you concentrate on the telephone part of their service (assuming you have it of course) you'll get better results. There's a lot more regulation and potential fines involved.
