Why or why not?

1. I'd certainly tell a neighbor...
...if some stranger was asking questions about his/her car. Even if I were somehow able to verify that this was an official repo person, how would I know that the repossession was valid?

3. I hadn't thought of that
The guy in this case had a tow truck with the name of a recovery company printed on the side, and he had a book of assignments (other victims, presumably) that he consulted when he talked to me. I suppose that these could have been forgeries, but that didn't occur to me.

I don't know the neighbor that well, and I could honestly say I had no idea where she was, when she'd be back, or what kind of car she drives.

However, when I did see her again, I let her know that he'd been looking for her.

Regarding your point, though; as it turns out, that same repo guy had erroneously towed a different neighbor's car and was a complete asshole about it.

8. Sure. It's just conveying information.
Why would I not inform my neighbor?

2. Is it a neighbor I like or dislike
the ones I like I would tell, the ones I don't like I would tell the repo man when and where to find the car.

4. Ah, neighborhood justice. You should be ashamed of yourself.
And so should I, because I can't say I'd do any differently, to be honest...

5. I have the neighbors from hell
I would even be willing to help the guy hook up the tow truck.

6. Depends on the neighbors of course
In many cases I'd make a big bowl of popcorn, get out the lawn chair and watch the fun.

7. Yes

cuz in Texas, you can't repo the car if you're disturbing the peace. Then I'd tell them to settle up with the loan company & ask if they need help.

As for the type of neighbor, yes, I'd even tell the asshole ones (if I had any) because karma seems to bounce back on me rather quickly.
