That's pretty close to Many Glacier which is pretty close (5 mi hike) to Ptarmigan Tunnel:

3. I had read about that platform being built
or maybe it wasnt the same one, not sure.

The site says two chicks have been confirmed. I will bookmark to keep up with the little guys.

5. In 1970 I went from Vancouver, B.C. to Montreal, Quebec on a Canadian National train
I was in the observation dome car when the conductor called our attention to a telegraph pole up ahead. "See that telegraph pole with a big nest on it? The osprey nesting there will fly up as we approach, then if you turn around and look behind us you'll see the parent bird come right back to the nest."
It was one of the wildlife sightings he could count on showing people, on a long trip through the forest.
