Veteran of the Psychic Wars - Blue Oyster Cult
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrd2xf5DIlU

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
Ive been living on the edge so long
Where the winds of limbo roar
And Im young enough to look at
And far too old to see
All the scars are on the inside
Im not sure if theres anything left of me

Dont let these shakes go on
Its time we had a break from it
Its time we had some leave
Weve been living in the flames
Weve been eating up our brains
Oh, please dont let theses shakes go on

You ask me why Im weary, why I cant speak to you
You blame me for my silence
Say its time I changed and grew
But the wars still going on dear
And theres no end that I know
And I cant say if were ever...
I cant say if were ever gonna to be free

Dont let these shakes go on
Its time we had a break from it
Its time we had some leave
Weve been living in the flames
Weve been eating out our brains
Oh, please dont let theses shakes go on

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
My energys spent at last
And my armor is destroyed
I have used up all my weapons and Im helpless and bereaved
Wounds are all Im made of
Did I hear you say that this is victory?

Dont let these shakes go on
Its time we had a break from it
Send me to the rear
Where the tides of madness swell
And been sliding into hell
Oh, please dont let shakes go on
Dont let these shakes go on
Dont let these shakes go on

2. Love BOC
In the early/mid 80's, I caught them a few times playing small venues in NY/NJ under the name Soft White Underbelly. I also saw them at MSG on the Black&Blue tour where they blew Black Sabbath (another all time favorite band but they suck live) completely away. One of my favorite stadium shows of all time (well... that I attended).

3. I like so many tunes off the Heavy Metal Soundtrack that it isn't even funny.
I love the Cheap Trick song "You Must Be Dreamin'" the best, but there's a bunch of good ones.

6. Heavy Metal has one of the best soundtracks ever
Not a bad song on the album. Right up there with the soundtrack to the remake of Dawn of the Dead... though that one is not available in stores and I had to cobble it together myself.

11. Thanks for the memories, NJ Maverick. BOC is my all time favorite band!
Here is another song that shows them to be true geniuses when it comes to writing songs. Who else would have written an ode to a German fighter plane?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI-z64G3tvU

ME 262

Goering's on the phone to Freiburg
Says Willie's done quite a job
Hitler's on the phone from Berlin
Says I'm gonna make you a star

My Captain Von Ondine, here's your next patrol
A flight of English bombers across the canal
After twelve, they'll all be here
I think you know the job

They hung there dependant from the sky
Like some heavy metal fruit
These bombers, ripened, ready to tilt
Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Must they live that I might die

In a G-load disaster from the rate of climb
Sometimes I'd faint and be lost to our side
But there's no reward for failure, but death
So watch me in the mirrors, keep in the glidepath

Get me through these radars, no I cannot fail
Not when great silver slugs are eager to feed
I can't fail, no not now
When twenty five bombers wait ripe

They hung there dependant from the sky
Like some heavy metal fruit
These bombers, ripened, ready to tilt
Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Must they live that I might die

Me-262 prince of turbojet, Junker's jommo 004
Blasts from clustered R4M quartets in my snout
And see these English planes go burn
Now you be my witness how red were the skies
When the fortresses flow, for the very last time
It was dark over Westphalia, in April of 45

They hung there dependant from the sky
Like some heavy metal fruit
These bombers, ripened, ready to tilt
Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Must they live that I might die

Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Junkers jommo 004 (repeat many times)
Bombers at 12 o'clock high

12. Don't Fear the Reaper
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpy_pYXSpPA

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

14. The Morning Finale
One of my favorites by them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9LVYnNpYaM

He cast a grim shadow
Through the busy street
Said he was a junkie
And he punctuated his walk with a gun

Motiveless murder
The papers scream
The cops all said
The crowd was iced by the sight

Oh baby dont it make you feel so bad
Dark clouds are over the street
After what I read, I can hardly feel my heart...
My heart beat

Down the subway stairs
After him they leapt
An echo snap and scream of fire
The hot pursuit was done

For the last time he felt the light
And gave up his last fight

Oh baby dont it make you feel so bad
Dark clouds are over the street
After what I read, I can hardly feel my heart...
My heart beat
