... There is the alternative.
BAN Politics at family functions. Keep it to family talk, the weather, whatever. Put in a "Political Swear Box". Everyone who talks politics, or if you like curses, has to put a quarter in the swear box. If someone wants to talk politics they can deposit $20 and talk all day if they want I suppose...
