1. The USofA, most unfortunately.
I can completely emphathize with your brother, having had more than a few really bad toothaches in my time.

Is there a dental college anywhere around where he is? I am not sure about this, but I'm thinking they might be able to help him, without bankrupting him.

6. yes, 200 for that
and that is for a tooth pull, which is pretty crappy cause its close to the front, but there is no way for a root canal. I know lots of other people have much worse problems, but I just hate to see him in so much pain and needed to vent a bit

3. He has income,
so why doesn't he go to a dentist, work out a payment plan, and get it taken care of?

Not everyone has dental insurance................

9. I've never been to a dentist that offers a payment plan.
They want all that you owe up front.

12. Mine works out plans for people who can't afford
to pay it all up front. I've been there when the money person was going over what they had (the dentist is my girlfriend, so I see backstage stuff), and they carry quite a few patients like that. I asked Kim, the dentist, how many defaulted, and she said "None. They're all regular patients."

That was heartening. But I hope she's not in the minority......................

24. That's very cool!
I haven't had to have any big dental work done in quite some time, so things may have changed. Hopefully, there are a lot of dentists that do that.

28. I wonder if the Dentists around here will do that....my last dentist
Edited on Sat Jul-11-09 02:23 AM by Tuesday Afternoon
made me put it on my credit card and I am sick of doing that. I would prefer to make my payments to the Dentist. I should start calling around.....thanks for giving me the idea. I just figured that all Dentists had gone to the Credit Card Plan.

7. Cloves work for a while if he can't get something done
Lets hope he figures out a way to afford getting it fixed.

I know his misery. Take a few whole cloves between cheek and gum at bad tooth. (They say clove oil on it works but who the hell has clove oil?!?)

It doesn't work long, but it eases pain. Well, it did for me.

PS: then there is drinking a lot. That is really bad advice though.

I'll run that buy him. He has been prescribed pain killers, but they are gone. It hadn't hurt for a little over 2 days, we thought the worse was over, then the pain came back tonight.

night inchy

and even those will only work temporarily.

What a nightmare...............

Forgive my questions, but I'm just curious ................

27. Those antibiotics
probably aren't the right ones. If they were, he wouldn't still be in pain.

Get him to that dental clinic pronto. Borrow the money if that's necessary, but get him going.

I'll be thinking of both of you - you're a very good sibling...................

17. Forgive me if this sounds harsh,
but he doesn't have any options. He's got to get that tooth taken care of as quickly as possible. Pain is the body's way of telling you that you're in trouble.

If that infection becomes systemic, he could die. Yes, die. A toothache is nothing to dick around with, and he does not have the luxury of time.

The sooner he gets it tended to, the better. Doesn't he have $200? I hope he can raise it and gets himself over there as quickly as possible......................

18. There is another clinic in Codman Square
637 Washington St
Dorchester Ctr, MA 02124-3510
(617) 825-9660‎

I used them years ago and they never billed me. They are great and I think they are affiliated with BU Medical School or Harvard.
