That seems really weird to me.

I mean, what's the point?

Someone goes out of their way to say DON'T read this??

Does anyone take it seriously?

Is it a feature for the mods to track threads??

Is it just a joke?

Truly, I am mystified.

Can someone please explain. Thanks!

1. Apparently it is an effort to give the community a control of what
makes it to the greatest page.

I don't mind it, I just think it can be abused and used for cruel purposes (trolls and creeps will abuse it) and the "<0" register is unnecessary.

2. It helps keep controversial topics
from being too widely read.

Posts that discuss republican crimes are still good, as are celebratory photos of the Obama family.

3. My dear Shine!
Hey sweetie!

It's great to see you tonight!

Check out Skinner's journal for his explanation...

Though the two comments you have here explain it well...

How are you? I gather you're out of school for the summer?

Long time no see...

4. Hi !!!
Yup, the explanations helped a bit. Thanks for the suggestion about Skinner's journal. Maybe I'll follow up with that.

Anyway, no, I'm not outa school. Because I'm in an accelerated program, I'm in class all thru the summers, too. It's been a bit challenging, to be honest, staying focused on schoolwork and assignments during a time of year that I'm not used to doing this sort of thing!

The good news is I've got a 10 day break coming up between sessions and we're going to Lake Tahoe, which I cannot wait for!

Good to see you too.

Hope you're having a good summer and still writing poetry!

6. I am still writing poetry; check my journal!
We had a great trip to Europe earlier (May-June) and the pics are in my Journal too!

I know you will thrive at Lake Tahoe, sweetie!

5. well, if you listen to some posters
it was skinner's way of unmasking himself as an unholy hybrid of stalin, hitler, big brother and sauron whose only goal is to crush our freedom of speech.

if you listen to others, it's a more democratic way of deciding what should be on the greatest page because it balances out cliques with agendas to push.

and for some people it is of no relevance to their lives because they never visit the greatest page.

i really don't care either way because i fall into the third category.
