8. My dream is to have an accordionpalooza...
Have all the really great accordion players from the
Center of the United States have a play off with all
the really great accordion players from Lousiana, Texas and
the Southwest...

And then have them all play "Tanta Anna" together....
I love Polka...

21. I beg to differ
Mr. LeftyFingerPop. Although I'm from Wisconsin, and polka is considered KING here, I for one (and I'm sure many) am not at all enamored about anything Polka-esk.

But there are those who truly do love the polka. Proof positive via this site >>>> http://www.pulaskipolkadays.com/

23. Well, glad to make
your day, but I truly am not a fan of Polka. Here is Wisconsin, at every wedding, there is Polka music played. *sigh* And everyone, and I mean everyone knows how to "dance Polka", me included.

32. Who could forget "The World News Polka"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q_NYulGppY&feature=related

I love to Polka - haven't danced it in years (not many know how to dance it), but I love it. My daddy bragged that he wore out the soles of his shoes at his brother's wedding when they danced for days. (Daddy said that Polish weddings used to last for days, long after the bride and groom left for their honeymoon.)

39. merh...
I'm a long time Deadhead, and I've seen the craziest ass dancing at Dead shows...men dancing in skirts, the works.

When I see people doing a Polka, and they are really into it, it kind of reminds me of the bliss at Dead shows.

Sounds kind of stupid, I know, but music is music...AND POLISH WEDDINGS ARE THE BEST!

48. I've been to a couple of my cousins weddings that were
TexPolish - big fun, lots of dancing and carrying on.

The Polka is a fun dance, it definitely is a cardio excerise and, as you say, Polka music is just "happy" music, can't help but grin.

44. Not everyone
Back when I was a teenager, my mother went through a stage of listening to the all-polka station from New Ulm, Minnesota.

I'm usually not sympathetic to complaints of "it all sounds the same," but in the case of polka, it's really true.
