For me, it's buttered corn on the cob. (I have teeth problems, and have to cut it off.)

1. Popcorn.
My first and last diverticulitis attack followed on the heels of eating popcorn. It was so awful, no matter how much I crave it, I'll not do that again.

5. I can't have popcorn anymore, either
The last time we fixed it, my husband broke a tooth on a kernel and I had to have a particularly stubborn hull removed from my bleeding gums by the dentist. Our "cheap snack" cost us serious money.

12. That's a real drag.
I used to get a hull caught up in my gums once in a while but I was usually able to dislodge it by gargling pretty hard with Listerine and then finessing it the rest of the way out with a toothpick.

Every time I smell popcorn, I want it so badly. Oddly enough, I don't have a problem with actual corn or any other type of seeds or peels. Seems it was just the popcorn.

Have you tried the hull-less variety yet? I haven't. Doesn't seem like it would be the same.

Welcome to DU. :hi:

2. Broccoli. I get tremendous gas pains.
I'm uncomfortable for HOURS, even when I douse it with Beano.

13. I've never used Beano but
I thought it was something that you take rather than put on the food.

16. You can take it as a pill or you can get a liquid form and squeeze drops
on the food that you think will "offend." I squeeze 10 to 12 drops on food such as beans. I don't eat broccoli or radishes any more. No point to it...

4. Sausage.
I don't crave it or anything, but it's probably the meat I miss the most after going pescitarian almost 9 years ago.

9. Um...ew.
:)

Nope - means that if it weren't for the occasional fish and/or seafood I'd be full on vegetarian. Sometimes I call it "fish-itarian" to paint a clearer picture for people that have never heard of the technical term. So - I will on occasion eat fish or seafood, but I NEVER eat beef, pork, chicken, turkey, etc...

The largest part of my diet is veg and/or vegan though.

17. Do you drink lots of water along with it?
When I have popcorn I make sure I have a big glass of water nearby and I drink it down to counteract the popcorn. It's great. I never have a problem (I used to have diverticulitis).

But, when I was about 14 I stopped eating pork to be more religiously observant, so no more bacon for me.

For some reason, that combination gives me the screaming shits the next morning. I can do one or the other with pizza, but not both. Go figure.

29. A lot of fresh fruits and veggies
I had bariatric surgery and because of the malabsorption, too much of fresh fruits and veggies really cause me bathroom problems. I miss all the watermelon and cantelope I used to eat in the summer! Losing the 130 lbs. was worth it tho - I knew the trade off I was making when I did it.
