Who went to the farmer's market this weekend |
|
and what did you get? I love the different varieties of produce, but was disappointed that good tomatoes still are not in yet. Most of them looked like hot house varieties, maybe next week will be better. I bought some Thai eggplant, baby golden beets, honeydew, white cherries and some okra. One vendor had a green called sawa sawa that I need to find out how to use and give it a try

1. It's sour cherry season around here. |
|
... I got a whole gallon of those, along with red currants and raspberries, and made a batch of fruit soup.

2. I got some tiny red potatoes |
|
and some tomatoes. The Farmers Markets aren't going full blast around here yet. Later on we will have lots of roadside stands.

No need to buy tomatoes or cukes because we're getting them from the garden.
The corn has been excellent this year.

There are a couple of sausage vendors at ours but no smoked trout, that would be nice for a change

9. The local corn this year is spectacular. |
|
We had late rain twice and I think that gave a timely boost to some crops. My plums are huge and very sweet.
