Has Anyone Ever Had Microdermabrasion Done?
I am seriously considering this but am curious if anyone here has had microdermabrasion done. A guy I use to work for who I have lost touch with had it done several years ago and even though I saw no difference I remember him being very pleased. Never asked any questions though. If anyone has has had this done I would love to hear your experience or any advice you may have. Many thanks!

i tried it a few times, in theory it's a great idea, you do some "lunch time" peels and then you're good to go with very little downtime

in reality as you observed with your friend, there is just no there there...no result...no benefit...just a waste of time and money

as a extra special side benefit, unlike most people who get microdermabrasion and can at least go directly back to work, then because of my sensitive skin the last time i got it done i had a severe break-out and had to hide out in my room for over a week anyway

won't do it again, i need to bite the bullet and get a real peel and just set aside the time for recovery, because at least if i have the misery and break-out i can get some kind of result

for me, right now, the best option is botox, because most of my problem is around the eyes, and botox does this very well, with almost no recovery time needed -- it looks like you have hornet bites for a few hours if you have sensitive skin and it takes a couple days to get the best result but it's way way WAY better than microdermabrasion -- it's an extremely noticeable result -- only problem is it wears off so you need to maintain it or the lines come back

i think your first clue that microdermabrasion is prob. a waste of time is that the doc doesn't even bother to do the procedure himself, in one office they had like some 16 year old looking girl doing it (i'm sure she was prob. licensed and not actually 16 but c'mon, the real doc just glanced in afterward) -- i dunno, i think past a certain age, it's going to take more than a beautician, it's going to take science/doctor

your mileage may vary and i hope it does -- certainly it's worth a try to see if you get a different result

as for why your friend was happy even though you could see no difference -- the skin is very soft to the touch in the days immediately afterwards -- so it does feel different -- unfortunately it just doesn't look different -- but i can see where you could kid yourself that it's doing something that it isn't doing -- VERY difficult to judge yourself in the mirror

make sure the doctor or staff does photos and you can then see the change objectively

good luck with what you decide but for me, as i've said, botox plus individual removal of some tiny veins/bumps with that electrical type thingy (forgot what it's called) really gave me by the far the best result

eventually i will also need to get my eyes lifted but it seems like there's never time for stuff like that, is there? hence why these quick solutions sound so appealing
