8. Yes. Dedicated to the environment. Had a strong sense of |
|
responsibility and ethics. Worked hard to build up the nation to something seriously better than it was when he took office. He didn't think he was there just to divvy out favors to his friends and sponsors.
He certainly had his serious political flaws, and he was all in favor of American Empire, but he wasn't entirely out to screw the poor and give away the country to business they way his predecessors have been.

He stood up for principle and resigned rather than follow Nixon's orders to fire the Watergate special prosecutor. A man of integrity and honor. Probably the last 'Puke about whom such a thing could be said.

14. I was thinking more along the line of Lowell Weicker, who led the Watergate |

Investigation from the Repub side. I supported him against LIEberman in 88, when LIEberman used rovian tactics to defeat Weicker. I never forgave LIEberman.

Conte was a Republican with a heart, He was somewhat infamous for wearing a pig mask in a 1983 press conference, as a protest against pork barrel spending. Although a member of the Republican Party, Conte was described as a liberal Republican. Conte voted against U.S. involvement in the 1991 Gulf War.

30. It'd have to be a celeb... Robert Duvall maybe... |
|
Someone I could spend a month talking to without ever bringing up politics. Duvall has lots of stories to tell, I am sure. Delta Burke is another possibility - she's slightly off her rocker and so am I so I figure we'd find a lot of things to talk about. Plus, of course, with a celeb, I would be living pretty nicely for a month.
