Or don't. I wouldn't blame you. (My advice is terrible.) :D

1. Congratulations. Now do you have a really good mechanic you trust?

I've never answered one of these, so I hope that's not the wrong kind of question.

My 1992 Chevy S10 has 209,000 miles on it. I spend about $400 on it every three months. I consider it my car payment. The truck still runs like a little champ, knock wood.

4. I do have a mechanic that always seems to come through.
He's a little pricey, but generally you make one visit and it's fixed.

I still have one fond memory of being very young, taking my car in there and saying "my brakes are squealing, I may need new ones." He got it up on the rack and found brake dust floating around which was accounting for the squealing noise. Otherwise the brakes were fine. He cleaned it out and wouldn't let me pay for it. "No charge," he said. "Just come back please." I've been a customer for life.

10. That's how mine did got me to stick around as well.
When he has to keep the truck for whatever reason, he gives me a free loaner. He fixes signal lights, et cetera, and doesn't charge me anything. He's one of those guys who actually likes girls and he doesn't treat me like I don't know anything about cars just because I'm a girl. I like that.

He's been working on the truck for way longer than I've owned it. The previous owner works for him. Anything he's fixed for the last many years that's under warranty he'll fix again free, which has happened a couple of times.

A mechanic you trust is worth his weight in gold as far as I'm concerned. You'll have the Sable for a long, long time.

3. What kind of car do you have?
Having a good running car that's paid for is like money in the bank.

5. It's a 2004 Mercury Sable.
As I mentioned in another thread, I'm going to take the amount of the car note and help my wife double up on her Toyota Yaris payment. We should be done with that one by the end of the year if life doesn't throw us any curve balls.

You better believe that we are going to start saving our money in Bank of Mattress once these cars are paid off. I'm getting nervous about the future and need to replenish my cash stash. I have these (perhaps irrational) fears that there will be a run on banks in the near future and that cash will be king...

15. No.
Do they make sunroofs for Sables that aren't custom? In any event, no. Do they still leak like they used to or have the engineers figured that one out?
