Badwater Ultramarathon starts today
135 miles from the lowest point in the US to the Mt Whitney portal. Current temp is only 80 but the forecast calls for 119 today.
Updates and twitter feed if anyone is interested.

Good luck to everyone participating in the event and I hope the participants achieve their personal goals and find what they're looking for on their personal visionquests.

To me, the beauty of the endurance event is that you're racing yourself to test and hopefully exceed, what you previously thought were your own physical/mental limits.

6. Just Whitney Portal? Why don't these wusses do the last 11.5 miles to Whitney's summit?
Just kidding,of course. If I could walk,not run, the first tenth of that race in that ungodly heat I'd consider it quite an achievement.

8. Running through the night
Leaders are past the 100 mile mark and nearing the 122 mile Lone Pine check point.
Only two people have dropped. I'm in awe of these people.
