Input wanted from car buffs: My aunt wants to give me her 1980 Buick |
|
Low mileage, extremely well maintained. Only driven a few miles a week.
I gave up driving about eight years ago when my last dear Volvo died. I didn't really need a car where I live, or the expense of a car.
But nowadays, a car can also be a person's last refuge for a home! Maybe I shouldn't turn it down.
Auntie's eyesight is going. She has to give it up.
Is this a good thing? I know nothing about 1980 Buicks.

I'd sport a Yugo if it was free and running.

3. I had a 1984 Buick that I got in the late 90's. Not sure which model |
|
you have, but with low miles and if it has been maintained well, you should be in luck!

4. Keep the oil level adequate and it will run forever. |

They weren't that attractive back then but they ARE reliable cars!

5. I had a 1988 Oldsmobile, very similar car to a Buick of that year. |

It was the most comfortable car to drive I ever owned, got fair mileage if I kept it tuned up and maintained (tire pressure, clean air filter alone will save you about 20 gas mileage) and it NEVER got stuck in snow. It was a GREAT road car, and I still miss it - sold it when I retired. I'd thank her very much!

added: If you find out what model it is, I might be able to give you more information about it, but I'd love one myself.

7. is that a smaller model? |

I had a Buick Special convertible many many years ago. I think that was a smaller model than some others.

8. 1980 was the last year for GM to be carburetor, non-ECM |
|
Basically, the end of cars you could fix in your driveway easily.
I'd take it, even if I didn't drive it often. Never know when you might need a ride somewhere.

9. I had an 86 Buick Century |
|
I loved that car. As mentioned above, they aren't the most attractive cars, but they aren't ugly either. It got great gas mileage. I'd still be driving it if the head hadn't cracked. (my fault)
