Serious question: Is a professional resume service worth the expense?
What are your experiences?

1. I had a guy at a a resume service do mine about 15 years ago. He basically regurgitated
the information I gave him, and put it into his format. (This was before there were easily accessed word processing and PC's). Since then I have updated and modified his format.

If you have never done a resume, it can be a good idea.

3. fuck no
these are the only things you need to remember about resumes:

1. if you're applying to a largeish business, they're receiving tons of them. yours likely won't even get read. if it gets scanned by some low level HR admin type,

2. then MAKE SURE you write it at an 8th grade level with lots of bullet points and account for dates in your history. throw in some mention of the run of the mill business productivity software you know. DO mention verifiable money you have made for your last employers.

3. just use plain old copy paper. hiring decision makers are not impressed by cream colored 80# text with rag content paper. just use plain old copy paper. did i mention DO NOT USE big words?

5. No. There are all kinds of software programs to help you build a resume.
And there is plenty of info on the Internet.
