How hungry cats get the food bowl filled
A cat's purr normally says, "I'm happy." But a new study suggests some purrs send cat owners a much different message: "Feed me!"

1. I wish that mine would purr for hunger rather than caterwaul
but the study is pretty cool.

3. When I've stepped on my kittens by mistake
they sound very much like a crying baby.

Scary.

:scared:

:D

:-( Hate it when I do that.

4. my cat whines very much like a little kid
if I'm holding her and she wants to get down, she'll whine and it sounds exactly like a human whine.

7. Mine did that, too
mostly his water bowl, he was a very thirsty cat. And if that didnt bring us running he would start dragging it to whatever room I was in.

17. hey Forkboy
I kept wondering why the cat bowl was in the middle of the living room floor when I came home from work - finally saw when my two cats went for the bowl, wicked Riff Raff would stick his paw in it and pull it away from old Clancy. This happened over and over until bowl migrated quite a distance. Trying to solve the dilemma of poor old Clancy not getting to eat, I put down two bowls, then three - but Riff Raff always hits the one old Clancy is trying to eat from.

Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 02:11 PM by Hell Hath No Fury
who was unhappy I had closed the bedroom door, trying to sleep in.

She lasted three hours. And had pulled several shirts left on the floor under the door with her paw.

I lasted 3 hours and one second. :D

29. I did it as an experiment --
to find out if I ignored the situation, how long it would take for her to stop. I thought I would be able to use the result to my benefit in the future.

My stoopid.

perfect description - the cat sticks close to your feet and makes it so the only path you can take leads straight to the food bowl :D

he'd wake me up to feed him by sitting on my chest. At 17 pounds, he didn't have to be subtle. :)

28. I just put out a bigass bucket of food
...and fill it from a 5 kg bag when it gets half-empty.

However, I get the same purring noise for "pet me, dammit" or "stop petting me, dammit" or "you will scratch my ears or be damned to the bowels of the netherworld forever".
