Have you learned something today that was a bummer?
Mine: my poor Rat Face (Miranda) has to stay in a splint and her jaunty little hat (the cone) for at least another three weeks. The doc showed me the x-rays taken the day after she broke her foot - it was a really bad break. And she showed me today's x-rays. It's beginning to heal but it's not enough.

Poor little Rat Face.

What's your bummer?

2. I didn't learn it today
but tomorrow is my last day at work, and I am kind of sad to be leaving everybody.

I just sent out my goodbye letter to a bunch of people I worked closely with, even though they are in different locations, and the responses are making me cry.

3. I am a copy editor for 28 magazines.
I thought the deadline for finishing the stories was at the end of the week. But found out I have only until tomorrow. That means I have to finish 112 articles by tomorrow afternoon. Talk about a bummer. Guess I can't waste any time here at DU today. I'm at lunch, but after 1 p.m., bye, bye for a few days.

4. Friend of college friends' died in a boating accident over the weekend...
apparently he fell off a boat in the Baltimore Inner Harbor and they found him last night or this morning (I'm not sure of the details, I'm only learning of it now). I only knew him in passing but he was a good guy. It's a bummer but more than that it's a shock. He's only the second person I've ever known to die young and unexpectedly.

6. I just read about that in the Washington Post online.
He was the communications director for a DC city councilman. I'm very, very sorry.

8. Thank you.
Like I said, I'm very shocked right now. It's just so random and inexplicable.

9. It is, but from the look of it
it's going to take longer than another three weeks. But that's just my uneducated guess based on comparing the two pictures. The doc knows better.

:hi: Thanks for asking.
