Does anyone use the term "gussy up" anymore?
I heard it used on tv the other day,but never in real life.

1. My wife still does.
She's only 45, but her parents were 45 when they had her and her late mom used the term all the time. She just used it the other day.

i'm in my early 40s, so sometimes when i say an older woman is "gussied up", she well and truly is

I'm on the old side of 50 so I probably use phrases unknown to youngins as I sometimes have a hard time understanding them.

4. My mother does. I found a book in the library with a bunch of sayings from the 1800's

that she still uses. Some of what she says is hardly recognizable to the general public as real words anymore.

8. It may well be a Southern expression.
My mom used it. She was born in South Texas in 1921. She later moved to East Texas. Her parents moved to S. Texas after graduating from Mississippi A&M. They were County Extension Agents both in Texas and Mississippi.
