Mother$&#*(@!
My daughter wanted this thing off e-bay, and I had the highest bid ALL DAY... I even upped my bid by $3 in the final 20 seconds. Then in the last 4 seconds some JACKASS showed up and outbid me by $1!

By the time I increased my bid it was too late.

I hate people. :grr:

1. That's the Ebay experience for ya. :^( Any more of those things on there you can
bid on? Sometimes I do the Buy It Now instead of bidding.

3. I've only done buy it now up till today.
No, there aren't any more.

I don't think I'll bother with this bidding nonsense in the future. It's just too aggravating for me. The person who got it has bought tons of transformers stuff from e-bay...so I guess there was no way my kid was going to end up with it. Greed... I fucking hate it.

I only did it this time because my daughter wanted it soooo much. She was willing to spend *all* the reward money she's saved up, plus give me a target gift card that she got as a birthday present.

6. damn it
I'm sorry that happened - I'm sorry your daughter won't get whatever it was, sounds like she deserve it.

Is there another one available somewhere on the internet? I'll help you find one if you need.

I always have a bid that is the absolute highest I will go. I bid that amount. Often, the win comes in well under that sum and having a "high" makes it hard to loose in the last few minutes by $1.00.

8. We've looked and there's another one but it's too expensive.
That's good advice, re: the highest you'll go. I wish I'd done that but it's her money. Next time I'll ask her about doing that, if she'd like to try for this item again... since I'm pretty sure this same item will come up for auction once this buyer gets his dirty greedy hands on it.

2. Darn! Someone sniped you. It can be very hard to get the
high bid on ebay auctions that have other bidders. There's software out there that automates the bidding and that will place higher bids at the very last seconds of the auction.

It's a shame for buyers, and a boon for sellers...sometimes.

4. What really bothers me is that the person who won it
has already bought dozens of Transformers items from ebay. Would be nice if they'd let someone else have a chance.

5. Yeah...an ebay seller bought it, I imagine.
They do that, then resell the item immediately. I hate ebay for popular items...use it only for one-of-a-kind things or use BIN for the other stuff.

not one of a kind, but rare.

12. Ah...I see. Well, collectors are big users of sniping software, too.
Not so good for the casual buyer. Collectors will pay almost anything for an item they want and don't have. They're absobloominlutely bonkers. A seller's dream, of course, but a nightmare for someone wanting to buy something because they just want it.

Sorry, again...

7. You have to mentally set the highest bid you're willing to make
And don't bid a penny more.

If the high bidder outbids you, you know he/she overpaid.

My mother once brought back a beautiful pair of sandals from her trip to Germany to give to me as a present, but because it was my father's birthday and he and I wear the same size, I told her to give him the sandals. I had seen a similar pair on ebay and was willing to bid as high as necessary to win them. I got sniped, just like you, and to this day, when I see those sandals on my father's feet, I just want to scream.

It will look great in my collection!
