Do you watch Next Food Network Star? |
|
My latest guilty pleasure. I think the mom, Melissa, is gonna win.
I expect no replies.

1. Hi Bertha. Actually, I have seen some of the episodes lately. |
|
That one guy, Brett, seemed like a jerk. He kept trying to take credit for stuff and deny he had anything to do with things that turned out badly. I hope he got kicked off.
I like Melissa, and I like Debbie and Jamika.

2. Yep, Brett's long gone. |
|
Did you see the last one? Debbie surprised me - outright lied about what she'd done, then played the martyr. :eyes:

Okay, I'll scratch her off my list, then. :)

7. She also lied in the first or second episode about how much money was spent. |

4. The winner will not be Melissa. |

I was glad to hear that Micheal got the boot. While he was a likeable guy, you cannot be a TV star if you see "the fires of hell" every time you look into a TV camera.
I don't think Melissa can win. Remember that the goal of the reality show is to find a new personality and host for a new cooking show. Melissa's schtick is that she's a "moms cook" who specializes in throwing together fast meals that any working mom or family can assemble in a short period of time. Just one problem...that's basically the exact same format as Rachael Ray's 30 Minute Meals, her anchor show on their network and one of their biggest moneymakers. There is NO WAY that the FN is going to broadcast another show from some reality-show winner to compete head to head with one of their primary breadwinners. It just isn't going to happen.
I think Debbie will win, simply because she brings something unique to the FN. They have NO shows dedicated to Asian cooking, and everything Debbie does is either Asian, Asian-inspired, or has an Asian flair.
I was really bummed to see that Katie couldn't overcome her own personality enough to stay on the show. She was whiny and irritating, but I genuinely enjoyed some of the food ideas she brought onto the show and WOULD have watched her. Eco-friendly, healthy, easy to prepare meals, and especially vegetarian fare, is another hole in the FN's offerings.

6. Yeah, given Debbie's performance on the last episode, |
|
it seems she has the assholish-ness required of TV stars. :) Just a little snark there, not directed at you.
I see your point about Melissa. If not her, then it has to be the tall guy. And I don't like him.
I just don't think Debbie will win.

It started slow, but I think it's a very interesting show. You have to always cosider who makes the best TV with that show. Melissa is generally good TV and appears to be a sufficiently good cook. She's probably the favorite. Debbie has been dishonest on the show more than one. The other two are blah.

It's a guilty pleasure of mine too. I think Melissa has a good shot because she's the only one that seems to really excel in front of the camera in terms both of her ability to tell stories and to provide information.
