Are you content with your looks?
I know so many people that want to pay to nip this or tuck that. Boob reductions, boob enhancements. Plastic surgery for the face, liposuction for the thighs.

I maintain that health is the only legitimate concern, save those poor souls who have a physical deformity that undercuts their social activities.

I'm no Brad Pitt, but if you take care of yourself and exude a warm personality, the looks factor seems irrelevant.

4. I've put on about 10 pounds over the past year.
I really want to take that off. Otherwise, perfectly content...freckles, crooked nose, and all.

My wife wants to get a tummy tuck when we can afford it though. After three kids, her belly skin is so floppy that she can't wear a bikini anymore, and she's a sun worshipper who dislikes one piece swimsuits.

8. I could stand to lose a few pounds...
but even when I looked good, I was already emotionally disabled. People are going to stare and make comments regardless, and since I got used to that by the time I was... 10... it doesn't matter.

Oh, people only WANT looks. That I figured out by age 33...

Had a major surgery at age 22 -- if I only had the time to walk 3 hours per day I probably would. (Running only exacerbates the impact on various vertebrae operated on, so I was told...)

36. It's looks or displays of confidence.
Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 05:52 PM by BreweryYardRat
I've figured that out too. Problem is, those of us who are emotionally damaged/disabled don't display confidence very well in large-scale social situations where we're getting challenged by other males.

In my case, I've been hardwired for violent responses to other males by my early emotional development, so I can't show confidence unless I want to wind up arrested. I'm capable of witty conversation, and that's gotten me several girls when I don't have competition. But witty remarks don't do shit for me in situations where I can't respond to a challenge from some grunting over-muscled Neanderthal throwback...unless, of course, I want to spend years rotting in prison.

*fist bump* My sympathies, brother.

I need to drop about 40 pounds. Have for years, but it's only recently that my appetite's finally shrunk to the point that I can exercise without putting the calories back on when I eat. I've already lost 10 pounds out of the 50 I initially wanted to lose.

I'd like to have black hair, instead of medium-dark brown with blond highlights. Dying it doesn't work for me, unfortunately.

I want to get several major tattoos. Back, legs, chest, full sleeves on both arms. I think I can manage those without it screwing up my chances to find work.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can pull off a major body modification I want -- bottom front teeth filed to points -- or some smaller tattoos -- glaring yellow eye in the back of my head, designs on the backs of my hands. Too obvious -- by the time I have a career where my appearance won't matter (I'm an aspiring sci-fi/fantasy writer, but I can't take time off from school/work to get that first book written, and trying to break into the biz through short stories is slow going), I'll be too old to really enjoy the aesthetics.

45. Most of the time.
I could stand to lose 10-15 pounds. (Too much pop!)

When I was a teenager, I hated my nose. I thought it was a huge, ugly beak but my face grew into it. Plus sometimes I worry I'm too hairy.

Things I like: My head of hair and my butt. Basically the two things I have gotten complimented on. I have ultra-thick head of curly hair. It's already got a little gray on the sides but I'll deal as long as I never lose it. ;-)

I worried for years that my butt was too big (family trait) but I began to appreciate it when an old girlfriend grabbed it and said, "I wish I had your ass." Then she told her sister to feel it too. So I had two pretty girls grabbing my ass. Good times...good times. ;-)

68. I've had three c-sections
There is no amount of exercise I can do to tighten up my pooch. That is the only surgery I would ever contemplate. I don't have the money, nor anyone looking at it atm so it's moot.

I'm ok with my looks overall.

72. Not at all
I lost weight.. looked at myself in pictures and was despondent. I'm not ugly or even unattractive but I have such a immemorable face, I hate it. I have some truly beautiful cousins so it's hard not to feel the plain-ness. I ended up gaining the weight back - doesn't seem to matter much really. My face might actually look better with extra weight, ironically enough. I also hate my skin and I've always had a bad body even as a teenager.

74. Right now? Yes, actually. For the first time in years.
I've gained some weight, and it suits me.

77. Yes
Although I put on a few pounds in recent years, but that's through my own fault. I can always change that.

78. Hell no. It's a curse of being female, I think.
We "never" think we are as attractive as other women. We learn it as little girls and have it reinforced in our teens. It never goes away until old age, I think.

Of course....there are plenty of women who are more secure and self-assured than I am! ;)

79. I'm ok
I guess. My husband doesn't have any complaints that I KNOW ABOUT. Hairs getting a little thin, puttin on a few pounds but what you gonna do about it? That's life. If I had a million bucks I might invest in a boob lift and a tummy tuck.
