Thinking about online law school
I live 3:30 hours away from the nearest law school that provides a night program and I can't move there (Durham). I also would not be able to afford its tuition. I must also keep working full-time.

For the area of law I'd want to practice, immigration, I don't need to be admitted to the NC Bar. I know that I'd be admitted to the CA Bar and I know about the Baby Bar and countless other examinations I'd have to take. I am not planning on joining a high powered law firm anyway. I am not interested in the brand name of the school, just as long as I get a decent education that will allow me to pass the CA Bar down the road.

I cannot quit my job and pursue law school, due to my SO's job. I am particularly intrigued by Taft Law School for a variety of reasons, chiefly for its students' performance on the Baby Bar (better than at some traditional law schools). I like Concord Law but its tuition is quite high and it just doesn't feel right for me.

I preface this by noting that I have worked as a paralegal for 11 long years and thusly I have worked with countless attorneys, in addition to my paralegal degree, where I was taught by practicing attorneys.

Any suggestions? Advice?

1. About 6 or so years ago I tried on-line law school -Kaplan's Concord -
which was at the time one of the only ones. I found that I'm not cut out for on-line or distance learning. At least not for law school. Of course my job made joining in on the on-line chats difficult. They were scheduled for just when I got home from work, if I didn't have to work late. I remember one where I was on a conference call with clients in Beijing and trying to do the on-line discussion for contracts law at the same time. I managed, but it was not fun. When we got the notice from China that we had been approved to adopt a child, I quit. There was no way I could manage working, commuting, being a mother and a wife and go to law school at the same time. Perhaps some of the other on-line law schools are different now, but Concord was not that great. However, very good luck to you. I hope that you find a good fit and go on to do what you want to do in the law. :)
