1. It's name was just changed TODAY
To the Willis Tower, after the British insurance group which is now the building's chief tenant.

Chicagoans are not happy:

5. I went out on those new clear platforms on the 103rd floor on Monday
during a train layover. I was a little nervous at first, but it's cool once you step out there. Their pre-elevator ride movie noted the name change.

7. We lived at Clark and Armitage,
and had a great view of the Loop. We loved the Hancock building, of course, but we watched the Sears tower go up, and somewhere around here I have a photograph I took of our view from the living room - we lived on the 15th floor, looking south - with a little TV set in front of the balcony window, with the Sears Tower on the TV screen, and in the background, in real life.

It was topped off that day.

I gotta find that photograph - it's just so cool.

Changing its name? Yeah, right.

Chicagoans will never call it anything but the Sears Tower. Neither will I. That name-changing thing stinks.........................

8. I see it every day (except when it's too cloudy).
Not the prettiest skyscraper in the US, but at least it's the tallest.
