OK....I've lost 4 pounds since this past Sunday... |
|
I had an infection for a few days which caused my blood sugar to be SERIOUSLY fucked last Sunday...as in...almost time for a hospital stay. I worked to get the infection under control, and went on a carb counting diet to the extreme. Blood sugar was normalized in 4 days, and I lost 4 pounds.
Here was a typical day:
Breakfast...Bottle of Special K protein shake. Two slices of wheat toast with butter.
Lunch...bottle of protein shake. 1/2 pound of tuna salad, no bread.
Dinner...protein shake...one half pound of roast beef with a few slices of cheese, no bread.
Bedtime...bowl of cheerios with 1% milk and fresh strawberries.
I treated myself last night to a meatball sub with no cheese. Also, one day I had a baked potato with sour cream and chives.
I thought this info would be useful to some here....

2. No, it was a skin infection that I kept putting peroxide on, etc... |
|
Antibiotics do not work for me at all when my blood sugar gets that high...your blood gets too "thick" and the medicine does not get to where it should and how it should.

5. I knew that antibiotics complicated things with diabetics...hence |
|
the question. I worry about the overuse of peroxide as well. I can go into more detail. Look for a PM later tonight.....must run for now

3. Good for you, glad you are losing the weight |
|
that sounds like a good diet. Eventually though you need to develop an eating plan that will allow you to maintain your desired weight (and address your diabetic issues).

And I usually try to follow a plan...but sometimes you fall off the cliff, especially with infections or excess stress.

8. I am, thank you, and... |

Try these protein shakes, but be sensible about it. Read the label....you could live off these things, but I don't suggest trying it.
Drink 2 or 3 a day, then eat some real food with significant protein content, but don't be afraid of a little fat and carbs also.

10. I got it down what I can and can't have due to gallbladder issues |
|
No oil, no sugar, no flour, light on the salt, NO DAIRY including protein drinks that have whey in them. Lots of salads, Ezekiel breads (made with no flour), brown rice, certain veggies, vinegars and fish. That's it...makes my life easier actually.

14. I believe fighting an infection ups your metabolism. Just think of all those |
|
cells in your body in "fighting mode" and how much energy that takes.
