Poll question: Best Fast-Food Fries?
Tried to weed out the regional chains. Vote the best choice, then if you have an "other", please post.

1. Mc Donalds used to
but then the health nazis intimidated them to stop using lard. Now they coat them with something (like virtually every place does) and use inferior, but "healthier" oils. (WTF is that stuff that coats fries? corn starch and wax?)

I'm not familiar with most of those (either don't eat there, or do but not fries), but Wendy's can get them right sometimes. Not consistent, but when you get a good fresh, hot order they are pretty good.

14. The curly fries are great
Arby's use to have a very good turkey sub but they got rid of it for their new toasted subs. I don't go there nearly has much as I use to but the fries are the best part.

3. Wendy's
I like squishy fries that hold their heat. No matter what the national polls say, I don't like McDonald's fries because they are neither squishy nor remain warm. x(

is an oxymoron. Like Jumbo Shrimp.

But I guess there's a place for them in the world

but based on their ubiquitous TV ads, it appears that they serve Tater Tots in various permutations instead of fries.

edit: point of clarification

8. KFC potato wedges
Potato Wedges are lightly battered Potato Wedges and seasoned with savory herbs and spices for a full flavor.

Not really what we would consider fries, I guess. But they're good. Their chicken, not so much.

i use the potato wedges as an 'edible spoon' to eat the cole slaw.
it's my current fast-food addiction.

i don't get any chicken, tho.

25. An interesting combination
One of the things I like to do for a cheap, quick and hopefully not too unhealthy meal is to hit Wendy's for a baked potato and a small chili. I skip the butter and sour cream and pour the chili over the baked potato instead.

Kickin' it under the heat lamp for too long, not so much. McD's fries age better.

Specifically the curly fries :)

I've never understood why McDonald's fries are always the favorite--I haven't eaten there in years, but I always thought their fries were just okay. To each their own, though ...

Arby's is a close second. McDonald's fries are particularly good if they give me a batch with lots of soft fries.

fresh and not over-salted.

'course, I don't eat any of that stuff now, day 6 of diet...

Unless they are cold or overly salted both of which is usually the case. Hardees crispy curls were pretty good the few times I tried them.

29. In-N-Out burger?
In-N-Out uses the Kennebec strain of potato for its fries and prepares them in store as opposed to purchasing them pre-made from other companies. The company's french fries have always been fried in vegetable oil while other chains had originally used lard or beef tallow.

32. Del Taco for me
If I buy fast food somewhere else, I'll go out of my way to get the fries at Del Taco. They're crinkle cut, soft, thick, and flavorful. I do not like McDonald's fries as I find them too hard and cut too fine. Arby's to me has the very worst fries. I compare their corkscrew fries to typical drive-in corkscrew cut fries with car hops that I used to go to as a child in the 1950s and they're sadly far inferior and I don't like their extra crispyness as I think they're over-cooked. You just can't find anything that compares to the great fries you used to get from a car shop long ago. In-N-Out's fries also do not do it for me.

Their fries and Big Mac became back in favor with me recently. Though I don't have a lot of fries since they really add calories when combined with the reasonable Big Mac.
