For possession of half and ounce of pot when I was 19. It was a misdemeanor way back then but I was in some podunk little town that night and the Barney Fife's thought they had hit the jackpot. :eyes:

4. My friend got arrested 3 weeks ago for having 3 grams on pot on him |
|
He wasnt even driving the car. His buddy was driving him home and they had a busted tail light right as they were pulling up to their house. Somehow that warranted a search of their car.

A series of protests were held on almost a daily basis throughout the summer and fall of 1985. Each afternoon, a group of about a dozen demonstrators would peacefully approach the front door of the embassy and ask for a meeting. Generally, nobody even opened the door. The police, who were already there, then informed us that we were trespassing, had to leave, etc. When we didn't, the police put us in zip cuffs and took us down to be booked. They "accidentally" forgot to read us our rights, so charges were always dismissed.
On the day I was arrested, the hooligans included some of the Young Dems from American University (I was a student at AU at the time) and members of a Catholic parish over in Arlington, including two priests.

22. Consider the demographics of DC |

The District is about 80% African-American, and the PG suburbs are heavily AA as well. Several of the cops were black and actually thanked us for what we were doing. Very cool.

Once as a kid (12) for arson. Scared the crap out of me, no one believed me that I had no idea what the cops were talking about (they claimed they had talked to me at a fire one night but had let me go). Not parents, friends, no one. When they brought me before the juvi judge, the cop was there and saw me, he spoke up and said that I was not the kid he had talked to and they let me go.
The second time for driving without a license. I had my license suspended for non-payment of the NJ state insurance surcharge, I paid the fine, waited till I got my reinstatement notice, then started driving again. What I did not know was that it took weeks back then to get the system updated and until then, if you did not keep the notice (of course, I had thrown it away), you were driving without a license. I found out all about it though.

between the civil disobedience and the psychiatric episodes, I must have had dozens of encounters with law enforcement.
But no arrests.
Of course, I am a white male. :eyes:

14. No. I never have. But more for luck than good sense when I was younger. |

I don't wanna go into the narrow escapes, suffice to say I never will get arrested now. My job requires a security clearance, and we get background checks every 2 years. Like, I had a chance to go to Havanna in 2006, but begged off just in case it came to the attention of my employers. Guess my wild days are over, if I wanna keep my job!

I was arrested in Champaign Illinois in an anti-war demonstration. I was held overnight in the U of Illinois football stadium by national guard troops with fixed bayonets. This was a week or so after Kent State so it was a bit scary.

It's actually a funny story.
My truck ran out gas with a cop behind me. He helped push me off the road, but smashed his right headlight in the process. I asked him if he could give me a ride to my house about 1 mile away.
He told me that he would have to frisk me (he confiscated my box cutter that I used at work) and detain me in order to "protect himself". I normally would have been annoyed by the fact that he couldn't just give me a fucking ride. But It was late and I just wanted to get home, grab the gas can and bike back to my truck.

Never got printed or mugshots or fuck all, but I walked out of a bar with my beer not realizing it and then decided to sink it just as the cops drove by. The cop asked me to pick up the bottle and I denied even seeing the bottle that was right in front of us and called him a prick. Then when I was emptying my pockets at the cop shop I refused to hand them my zippo which resulted in a bent-arm/pressure point thing for a few minutes and I was shown my lodging for the night. I ended up with fines for littering and drinking in public. The guard at the cop shop even asked me the next morning, "Why didn't you just give them the lighter?" hahahah I WAS DRUNK!!!
