Ford Focus appreciation thread!!

(2009 Euro model, said to be the new 2010 US model - much sleeker, though I prefer the 2009 model's aluminium wheels...)

1. Had 1 for 2 years. It was OK. Not great. Other than a fuel pump...
that left daughter stranded 60 miles from home, an OK vehicle. Wouldn't own another.

4. It ended up being a recall, main fuel pump failure plagued the early ones.

7. Yowzers. :(
:(

I do recall reading JD Power and Associates calling the 2009 model "most improved" (to the 2008 version, yours was likely a 2007 model), but I do dislike it when companies underpower vehicles or cut corners... There were a number I summarily avoided... unless it was by accident; stuff happens without the powers that be knowing about it too. I'm sorry your daughter was caught in the middle with the car going out, that far from home. :(

The Taurus is rather a good car. Big, but they are very good cars... nothing wrong with big... :D

Your threads ALWAYS give me an opportunity to bring my silliness to its lowest common denominator.

10. I have a 2006 FF
So far, the only problem was that some water mysteriously got trapped underneath the floor in the passenger side but it was easily fixed (under warranty) and haven't had any issues with it since. Wait a minute.......I shouldn't have said that!!!! Excuse me!! Gotta go find me some wood to knock on! ;-)

11. Drove One for Work
It had this cup holder liners that would stay stuck to the cup and then fall off in my lap spewing its horrible contents on my clothes.

On the other hand, it was great in the snow and ice. Best thing I've driven on slippery roads since the VW Rabbit, which was peerless. Also good on gas, slightly better than my Civic. One day during the $4+ a gallon days I put $40.00 worth of gas in the thing. Amazing, but a lot of bang for your gas dollar.

15. Mine has big cup holders, but I never drink while driving...
Eh, any liquids...

Yeah, I'm averaging 30MPG per tank -- highway-only driving easily nets 35MPG, but I don't do too much of that.

My previous car did 20MPG. It had AWD and I can tell the difference, but I'd rather have 30MPG - especially with the size of the wheels (17" diameter and thick), I suspect it'll handle well on the ice too.

The 2009 model is skimpy on the back seat space, even for the 4 door model (which is rather the safer of the two when it comes to side-impact tests), but otherwise it's a great use of space. It's about 6" thinner than the Subaru, but I would never have noticed...

12. I liked my Ford Focus.
Almost had it paid off. Was a base model 2004 sedan... then someone drove into it :(

Did you have insurance and did you get your money's worth when getting a replacement vehicle?

19. All worked out very well - thanks :)
Insurance is a requirement to be able to operate a vehicle on the roads, so yes we both had insurance. It was her fault, so her insurance paid. Yes I got fair market value, the property case is settled.

I did not replace the Focus with another one. For plenty of reasons I got a Jeep Liberty as a replacement. The Focus is superior to the Jeep in on-road comfort and in fuel economy, which if all I ever did with the vehicle was go to and from work, then yes a Focus would have been a replacement vehicle. However a Focus is not very good off-road, and I have that need, and that is where the Jeep Liberty excels.
